Volunteer Project and Olympic Games at the Campus
An unforgettable August: The Success of the Second Edition of the Volunteer Project at Busajo Campus
In August, Busajo Campus once again opened its doors to solidarity and enthusiasm with the second edition of the Volunteer Project. A close-knit group of eight boys and girls spent two weeks at our facility, fully immersing themselves in community life.
The volunteers stayed in the Main Building and shared every aspect of daily life with the children at the Campus, starting with the meals enjoyed together in the dining hall every day. This total immersion laid the foundation for an experience of deep connection and mutual exchange.
ART, THEATER, AND CREATIVITY: “SNOW WHITE” TAKES THE STAGE
The real highlight of this year was the launch – for the very first time – of wonderful art workshops covering music and dance, painting and photography, and theater.
What made this initiative unique was the collaboration with the professional workshops already operating at the Campus. The boys from the tailoring lab handled the costumes, while the carpentry workshop created the sets. This extraordinary teamwork resulted in a completely reimagined version of “Snow White” – a memorable and moving performance that brought all the children and staff together for a day that will remain forever etched in our hearts.
ENERGY AND SPORT: THE BUSAJO CAMPUS OLYMPICS
The volunteers’ stay coincided with one of the year’s most anticipated events: the Busajo Campus Olympics, held on August 15th and 16th.
Divided into four teams based on age groups, the children competed with great enthusiasm in tournaments featuring soccer, volleyball, musical chairs, and the game of “Steal the Flag”.
The volunteers played an active role alongside our educators, assisting with the organization and management of the games on the field. As happens every year, the Olympics proved to be a magical time of joy and light-heartedness – a safe space where children can freely express themselves through sport and simply be children.
A bond that endures.
For the young volunteers, these two weeks at the Campus have been a unique and transformative experience. They return home with a wealth of genuine connections, intense emotions, and a profound understanding of the value of collaboration and solidarity.
